Cherry Tree Lodge
Add to itinerary
Cherry Tree Lodge was constructed in 1887 by William Alfred Goodwin (1840-1940), and holds the distinction of being one of the first purpose-built cottages in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Not only does it exude with the historic charm and inviting atmosphere so emblematic of older cottages, it was central to the story of W. A. Goodwin, a 19th century artist, explorer and businessman who documented in pencil, oil, and watercolour the evolution of the Kawartha Lakes from its beginnings in the lumbering industry to the recreational destination it is known for being today.
Maintained by Goodwin’s descendants until the summer of 2015, Cherry Tree Lodge is one of this community’s hidden treasures and awaits rediscovery.
